Community Services Program Coordinator

Eastern Area Agency on Aging is currently recruiting for a 30 hour per week coordinator position to oversee the Money Minders Program and State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP). For the Money Minders Program, the Coordinator provides ongoing support and supervision of volunteers who provide direct service to low income clients who are disabled or elderly by making visits to the client’s home on a regular basis, assisting the client in the preparation of checks from a designated account to pay monthly bills and properly maintaining the check register. For SHIP, the Coordinator trains and supervises volunteers who help Medicare & MaineCare beneficiaries become responsible consumers by gaining a better understanding of the services they are entitled to, and identifies and reports discrepancies in Medicare and MaineCare claims and other forms of errors, waste, fraud and abuse. The Coordinator also educates seniors about long term care insurances and other health insurances including Medicare and MaineCare through the SHIP program. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining records and completing reports for both programs. The Coordinator will be responsible for doing agency presentations within the community.

High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Development or related field of study preferred. At least two years of experience supervising and training volunteers is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills. Experience presenting information to the public preferred. Candidate must have familiarity with basic household financial practices and must possess a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance. Candidate must become SHIP Certified upon hire.
