Alzheimer’s disease is devastating for everyone, especially family members. Eastern Area Agency on Aging is pleased to provide the Partners in Caring respite program to people who are caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementias.
Sometimes a few hours away from the situation can make all the difference in the life of the caregiver.
The Partners in Caring program is made possible through an Administration on Aging grant administered by the Maine Alzheimer’s Project.
There is no greater service than caring for an ailing loved one and Eastern Area Agency on Aging is proud to be able to support those who do this truly unselfish work.
Qualifications for the program include:
- Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or other related dementia provided by the primary care physician or provider
- Live in Maine
- Be 18 years of age
- Not eligible for any other MaineCare respite services or other programs.
- Have assets of no greater than $50,000 for an individual or $75,000 for a couple
- Not live in a hospital, residential care facility, or nursing facility
- Agree to pay the monthly co-payment amount as determined by EAAA. A waiver of the amount is available
- The program also currently provides additional caregiver services including:
