Tai Chi is an enjoyable exercise that can improve balance, relieve pain, and improve health and ability to do things. It is a slow exercise. It is easy to learn and good for all ability levels. The essential principles of Tai Chi include mind and body integration, fluid movements, controlled breathing and mental concentration. Tai Chi is one of the most effective exercises for the health of mind and body. It helps people to relax and feel better.

This is for an introduction class is offered in person at the Durgin Center, and is meant for students new to tai chi and those interested in learning more. Tai Chi for Health and Balance, developed by Dr. Paul Lam for the Arthritis Foundation, uses gentle sun-style Tai Chi routines.  These routines are safe, easy to learn, and suitable for every fitness level. The ancient discipline of Tai Chi combines agile steps, joint-safe exercise and mental strength to improve mobility, breathing and relaxation in ways that help you feel greater control over your daily life. It is a joint-safe way for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy life and meet new friends while taking control of your physical, emotional, and mental health.
