Eastern Area Agency on Aging Healthy Aging Expo Presented by AgingME

Since 2006, Eastern Area Agency on Aging (EAAA) has presented their annual expo in May to celebrate Older Americans Month. Formerly known as the “Senior Expo”, it was a very well respected and much anticipated event with upwards of l,l00 in attendance. Coming May l8, 2023, the expo is back for the first time since the pandemic with a brand-new name, “HEALTHY AGING EXPO”. Last year, EAAA joined Maine Council on Aging’s Age+ Movement to build an age-positive culture in Maine with healthier people and communities, and a stronger economy by intentionally addressing age-bias in all its forms.
EAAA Executive Director, Tabatha Caso shares more about the HEALTHY AGING EXPO:
“The expo has always been to connect adults with the things they need to live a purposeful, healthy, and engaged life. We feel it’s important to rebrand the expo in a way to ensure we are including all aging adults. Aging successfully looks different for everyone, it could be planning for retirement and end of life care, thinking about long term housing options, learning about Medicare, getting involved in wellness and enrichment classes, exploring health care options, seeing how assistive devices can help maintain independence, and more.”
