Medicare costs can quickly add up which can lead to people questioning whether to keep Medicare in place or how they will afford their bills. MSP provides assistance for people struggling to pay for Medicare premiums and prescription costs. This program is income based, there is a limit to liquid assets, and program eligibility is finalized through the Department of Health and Human Services; however, MSP is not part of the MaineCare program and there is no estate recovery.
