Wouldn’t you love some fun, stimulating courses designed especially for seniors? With no grades, no tests, no credit—just exciting learning? Penobscot Valley Senior College has what you need!
Health, history, science and nature, technology, literature, popular culture, art, politics, and more—these and other subjects make it hard to choose a course. Check the catalog below for a sample.
The two-hour classes meet one day a week for six weeks. We have two sessions, spring and fall, with a dozen or so choices each session. Classes are lively. Teachers—volunteer experts—are engaging.
Occasional half-day talks or workshops on topics of special interest keep us learning between semesters. Members are also entitled to take courses at other Senior Colleges in Maine by paying just the tuition.
Becoming a member
Click the link below for the application form.
The membership years runs from July to the next June. Annual membership is $25, or $40 for two people at the same address. If you join in the spring, the fee is $15. Once you’re a member, you’ll automatically receive our catalog in plenty of time to register for one or more classes.
Registering for classes
The class registration form is included in the catalog. Tuition for each course is $30. You must already be a member, or include the $25 membership fee with yourregistration.
Please register promptly and include your check! Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and some fill quickly. That’s why we ask you to list a second choice. You’ll get confirmation of your class registration, with the location, about two weeks before classes start.
If you have questions about registration or anything else, please call our message phone at 992-0118 and someone will call you back.
If the weather looks bad, check local TV stations or call our message phone (992-0118) to see if classes have been canceled. If Bangor public schools are closed, our classes will be cancelled that day as well.
