Project Generations

Categories: Community Collaborations

Project Generations is a senior companion program that matches older adults in the Orono-Bangor area with student volunteers from the University of Maine.

Unlike other senior companion programs offered through the Eastern Area Agency on Aging, Project Generations’ sole purpose is to create intergenerational friendships and fight the social isolation and loneliness that many seniors in our area face.

Volunteers are screened through an interview process, reference checks, and background checks. They are then assigned an older adult to visit based on a match of similar interests.

For a minimum of one hour a week, volunteers meet with their assigned older adult to talk, play card games, color, knit, etc.

If you, or an older adult in your life, are interested in Project Generations, please call the agency for more information.
