The holidays are often a time of loneliness for homebound older adults, who can feel forgotten while others celebrate happy traditions with family.

You can change that.

Eastern Area Agency on Aging (EAAA) is asking for the community’s help to bring a little extra comfort and holiday cheer to homebound older adults this holiday season. EAAA’s Meal on Wheels Holiday Meal Program is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable older adults feel loved and appreciated.

EAAA’s Meals on Wheels program has historically provided a more robust, special meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas to their homebound community members. Unfortunately, due to the increases in supply chain costs, inflation, and other factors outside their control, the price of a holiday meal has increased again this year. EAAA is reaching out to our generous community to help supplement the cost of the special meal for this holiday.

Every $5 sponsors a special holiday meal for a Meals on Wheels recipient.

The Meals on Wheels program has witnessed a tremendous increase in services, almost tripling the number of home-delivered meals since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.  With the help of 122 volunteers, Meals on Wheels currently serves 700 homebound older adults in 4 counties – Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis, and Washington.
